HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? Bowling Green forward John Reimold led three Falcon players in double-figures with 22 points to help his team past Marshall Thursday night in the Henderson Center, 69-64.

Bowling Green improves to 8-2, 2-0 in the MAC, while the Herd drops to 2-9, 0-3 in league play. Marshall has now lost eight out of nine games.

?We?ve got to fight harder, because that?s the only way we are going to get out of this rut,? said Marshall head coach Ron Jirsa.

Marshall again encountered a hot-shooting team ? the Falcons shot 46.2% from the floor, 50% from beyond-the-arc, and 84.6% from the free throw line. Reimold and Cory Eyink led the way for Bowling Green from downtown, knocking down four shots apiece. The Herd was 41.1% from the field, 38.1% from three, and 62.5% from the charity stripe. Bowling Green out-rebounded Marshall, 33-30, and the Herd had 13 turnovers compared to the Falcons? 15.

The Herd had three eight-point leads early in the first half, but Bowling Green pieced together a 13-2 run to take the lead, 26-23 at the 5:54 mark in the first half. The Falcons held on and took a 34-31 advantage into the halftime break.

Both teams came out cold from the floor to start the second half, but Marshall was the first to get on track, scoring the first five points of the second half to take a 36-34 lead at the 17:29 mark. Nine minutes later, with the score tied at 52, the Falcons reeled off six straight points on two Reimold lay-ups and a jumper by guard Steven Wright. Marshall responded with a 6-0 run of their own to tie the game at 60 on two David Anderson (Levittown, P.R.) with 1:52 to go, but Bowling Green again ran off six straight to take a 66-60 lead. During that stretch, Tre Whitted (Wilmington, N.C.) had a three-pointer rim out, and A.W. Hamilton (Georgetown, Ky.) missed two threes in attempts to keep the Herd close. Bowling Green made key free throws down the stretch to keep the game away from Marshall.

?They got the second shot at the end and we missed a good look at a three-pointer on the side,? said Jirsa. ?In my mind, those were the two key plays.?

Marshall was led by Hamilton, who scored 17 points. Mark Patton (Barboursville, W.Va.) added 12 points, while Joe Miles (Forestville, Md.) tallied ten points for the Herd. Anderson led MU on the boards with his second consecutive game in double-digits, grabbing 12 rebounds.

Besides Reimold?s 22, Josh Almanson (17) and Cory Eyink (14) were the other two Bowling Green players in double-figures.

The Herd continues MAC play on Sunday afternoon at Ohio. The game tips off at 1 p.m., and can be seen live locally on WSAZ-TV and regionally on Fox Sports Pittsburgh.
