IRVING, Texas - Senior diver Casey Mulholland (Stone Mountain, Ga./St. Pius) was named the Conference USA Co-Diver of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
"I think Casey's has dove better this year than any other year she has been here," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "I think she is very deserving and I am very happy for her.
"It's a sign of how well she has done this year and how much she has improved from her days in the Mid-American Conference to such a highly-competitive league like Conference USA this year."
Last weekend, Mulholland, who shares this week's honor with Houston's Tania Cagnotto, qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones in the one- and three-meter springboard events during the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
On Friday, the veteran posted the top 2005-06 Conference USA point total and a school record of 534.90 in the three-meter boards (10 dives) to finish second in the event.
Mulholland posted another runner-up finish in the one-meter boards (10 dives) with another school record score of 527.65 to qualify for Zones. Mulholland has now qualified for NCAA Diving Zones all four years at Marshall.
"I think getting selected twice is a sign of how hard she's worked to get prepared for the season and how well she and (Marshall diving coach) Lori Meierbachtol have worked together," Kraus said.
The Marshall Thundering Herd women's swimming and diving team returns to action Saturday, Dec. 17, when it hosts in-state rival West Virginia University in a 2 p.m. meet at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.
