Game One Vs. Akron Suspended for Softball

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Mid-American Conference softball action was suspended on Saturday at Dot Hicks Field due to rain, which contributed to poor playing conditions. Marshall was leading Akron 5-2 with two outs, a 0-0 count and a runner on first in the bottom of third inning in game one of a scheduled doubleheader.

With play postponed, the remainder of Saturday's game is scheduled to resume on Sunday at noon, followed by a pair of games in attempt to complete the three-game series.

Thundering Herd senior Randi Nielson (Tucson, Ariz.) tossed three innings against the Zips and was getting plenty of run support in the bottom of the third to the tune of four MU runs before play was halted.
