Softball Heads To Ball State

The Marshall softball team returns to conference action on Sunday with a twinbill at Ball State.
Marshall (28-15, 13-3) could not overcome an early 4-0 first inning lead by Bowling Green on Friday afternoon and went on to drop the contest, 5-3, in non-conference action. Rachel Folden (Baldwin Park, Calif.) had two home runs and three RBI to lead the Herd offensively. Herd reliever Mandee Luers (Dover, Ohio) came in to hold the Falcons scoreless and hitless in three innings on the mound.
Ball State (15-30, 2-9) succumbed to a Marshall Mercy Rule win on March 19th at the Buckeye Invitational. The Herd dropped the Cardinals, 9-0. BSU is led by Amanda Pick?s .250 batting average and 34 hits. On the mound, Amy Brownfield and Nicki Hellem see most of the action. Brownfield is 6-8 with a 2.77 ERA while Hellem is 7-10 with a 3.38 ERA.
The doubleheader with the Cardinals begins at 1 p.m.
