CLEVELAND -- Marshall catcher Rachel Folden (Baldwin Park, Calif.) has been named Mid-American Conference East Softball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Folden batted .500 on the week, including three home runs and a double in ten at bats. The
freshman seems to be peaking at just the right time, as she was responsible for all three runs in a loss against Bowling Green on Friday (one solo-home run and one two-run shot) while her
home run in game one against Northern Illinois gave MU the 1-0 win.
On Friday, Folden went 3-for-4 with two home runs, which pushes her number to seven this season, and a double in the one-game non-
conference affair. On the week, Folden had a 1.500 slugging percentage with three runs, five RBI and 15 total bases.
"Rachel had a great week," head coach Shonda Stanton said. "We are very excited to get another weekly award...it speaks volumes for her hard work and dedication."
Marshall will take on its second top ten school of the season when it treks to No. 9 Tennessee on Wednesday for a doubleheader in Knoxville.
