CLEVELAND -- Randi Nielson (Tucson, Ariz.) has been named to the Mid-American Conference Softball All-Academic Team, announced by the league office on Thursday.
Nielson, a four-year starter for the Herd, had more wins than any other pitcher in the conference this season. The business major boasted a 2.43 ERA on the mound to coincide with a 21-8 record, the third highest win-total in a single season in program history. The senior held opponents to a .229 batting average and lost only one game in conference regular season play en route to leading the Herd to its second MAC Regular Season Championship in three years.
Nielson was previously named First Team All-MAC earlier this month. This is the second time in her career that she has been named both First Team All-MAC and Academic All-MAC, as she captured the pair of honors in 2003 as well.
