Cross Country Opens 2005 Season

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall's men's and women's cross country teams opens the 2005 season by traveling to the University of Kentucky for the Woodford Trials on Friday September 2. The Herd will compete against the Kentucky Wildcats, the Louisville Cardinals and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in Versailles, Ky.

In 2004 Marshall runners Emily Bailey (Kenova, W.Va.) and Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J.) placed a respective 23rd and 25th in the meet.

Bailey and Achilles return to the Herd for the 2005 season as well as top male runner Jon Nelson (Barboursville, W.Va.) for the inaugural season as members of Conference USA.

The Herd completed the 2004 season with the women placing thirteenth and men eighth at the Mid-American Conference Championship.

The women will be competing in a two mile run slated to start at 5 p.m. and the men will compete in a 5k run starting at 5:30 p.m.
