HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-0 contest to Dayton Friday at the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio. The victory extended the Flyers' home winning streak to nine games, dating back to Oct. 31, 2003.
After 31 scoreless minutes, Dayton (2-2) took the lead on Joe Olwig's first goal of the season. He was assisted by Nate Darr and Terry Alvino.
Damion Blackburn padded the Flyers' lead in the 75th minute with his first goal of the season, a blast to the left side of the goal. Lubomir Bogdanov provided the assist.
Greg Terhune (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) made six saves in goal for the Herd.
Dayton out-shot the Herd, 17-10 and put nine on goal compared to Marshall's four.
Marshall (2-3) plays its final game at the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic at noon Sunday vs. Duquesne, which won its opener in the tournament, 2-0, over Cal Poly.
