HUNTINGTON- In the Marshall women's soccer season finale at Joan C. Edwards Stadium Sunday afternoon, the UTEP Miners dealt the Thundering Herd a 4-0 loss.
The Miners (15-5-0/6-3-0) scored in the fourth minute and again in the 10th minute to go up 2-0 early in the match.
Despite the two goal differential, Marshall (5-11-1/1-8-0) and UTEP looked even on paper at the half. Marshall tallied five shots, UTEP seven, neither team earned a corner kick and both keepers made two saves.
Four of the five Marshall shots were provided by Kassie Hollman and Ali Lizotte supplied the fifth.
UTEP was able to capitalize on its first corner kick of the game when Tameka Sumter got her head on the ball served from Anoop Josan in the 62nd minute. The goal was Sumter's second of the match.
The Miners scored the last goal of the day in the 85th minute by Lauree Thibaut.
Marshall totaled six corner kicks, 13 shots and five saves in the match. UTEP earned four corner kicks and totaled 17 shots.
Hollman led the team with five shots, three on goal. Molly Snead and Erin Johnson each had two shots.
