With the win, Marshall has secured consecutive winning seasons for the first time in program history. Head Coach Rafa Simoes and the Herd will learn its postseason fate when the bracket is announced by the league at some point Sunday evening.
"I'm incredibly proud of this group. To come into a game like this with everything on the line and deliver a 4–1 performance says a lot about the character, belief and quality of our team," said Simoes. "This group refused to give up on the season, and now we've earned our place in the Sun Belt Tournament. To finish with a winning season for the second consecutive year - the first time in program history - is something these players should be extremely proud of."
"I also have to highlight Nicole, who was outstanding today. When the moment demanded someone to step up, she did exactly that. Her performance was exceptional, and she showed tremendous quality, composure and determination in such a big moment for our team. But we're not done yet. We're excited to keep playing, keep fighting for each other, and see how far this team can go."
