BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB's Ivana Bozic and Fernanda Domingos led the Blazers to a 3-2 (25-30, 30-27, 30-25, 23-30, 15-13) victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd volleyball team on Sunday.

For Marshall (19-10, 11-4 C-USA) the loss was the team's first in six matches and UAB (21-9, 8-6 C-USA) has now won seven straight matches.

The Herd won the first game of the match but was unable to top the Blazers in two or three.

"There were games we played well and there were games we didn't, UAB played well tonight," Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said.

"We have teams that are very good in this league and playing very good volleyball right now."

Marshall's Kelly-Anne Billingy tied her season-best output of kills with 35 and the Herd had five players with double digit digs and seven scoring blocks. Leading the Herd's block was Chelsea Lazar with six and Uche Ndubisi with seven and 14 kills.

"Kelly had a great night and Uche played well," Jacobs said. "Our block was pretty tough tonight. Defensively we stepped up and played well in games three four and five."

Maggie Arias recorded her first back-to-back 20-plus dig performances of the season, digging 20 against the Blazers.

Recording double-doubles for the Herd were Christin Bimberg with 63 assists and 14 digs, Billingy with 35 kills and 11 digs and Stephanie Cahill with 12 kills and 11 digs. Cahill leads the team with 11 double-doubles on the season and Bimberg and Billingy each have seven.

Marshall's next match will come on Senior Night at the Cam Henderson Center when the Herd faces East Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.
