IRVING, Texas - Marshall Thundering Herd junior southpaw Abigail Harter (Monmouth, Ore./Santiam Christian) was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week Monday, as announced by the conference office.

Harter is the first Herd hurler to receive the weekly honor and the second Herd player to receive a C-USA weekly accolade. Earlier this season, Rachel Folden (Baldwin Park, Calif./Diamond Bar) was named the C-USA Co-Hitter of the Week for March 6.

Harter did not allow a run in 8 1/3 innings of work in the Thundering Herd's pair of victories at East Carolina this past weekend. The junior tossed a two-hitter in game of Saturday's doubleheader and helped preserve the win in the series-clinching victory on Saturday. Harter pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Her two scoreless appearances lowered her earned run average in C-USA games to a league-best 0.60. Harter has not allowed a run in the last 18 2/3 innings against C-USA competition. She has surrendered just three earned runs in 35 innings of work in conference play.

Harter leads the Herd with a 2.90 ERA, while sporting an 8-7 overall record. Harter's victory Saturday moved her into a fifth-place tie on the school's all-time wins list with 29. She is also fifth in school history with 222 career strikeouts.

The Marshall Thundering Herd (21-15, 9-3 C-USA) is currently tied for second place in Conference USA with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. The Herd hosts former Mid-American Conference rival Miami University Tuesday with a 5 p.m. first pitch at Dot Hicks Field.
