CINCINNATI, Ohio - It didn't take long for the Thundering Herd tennis team to disposed of the Cincinnati Bearcats Saturday afternoon as Marshall swept through the match for a 7-0 win.

Marshall ranked No. 57 in the latest ITA poll improves to 16-6 on the season and Cincinnati falls to 1-15 in defeat.

The Herd was dominant throughout as it cruised to wins from every position in both singles and doubles.

In doubles action, the Herd swept all three matches by scores of 8-1 on every court. The No. 35 ranked tandem of Kellie Schmitt and Lynzee Kever improved to 17-4 on the year together as they picked up the win over Jill Klauck and Lindsay Wileford on court No. 1. Shannon Brown and Karolina Soor continued the trend with an 8-1 win over Hannah Hinton and Elizabeth Young at No. 2 and Jeanne Schwartz and Jessica Keener finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory against Madison Reasoner and Jennifer Kelly.

In singles, the Herd breezed to straight-set wins on every court except for No. 6 where it won by default because the Bearcats didn't fill the spot in the lineup.

Kever defeated Hinton on court one 6-2, 6-3 while Schmitt handed Klauck a 6-2, 6-0 defeat on court two. Jeanne Schwartz also picked up a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 3 over Wileford.

Brown and Soor closed out the winning for the Herd from the No. 4 and 5 positions. Brown defeated Young 6-1, 6-2 and Soor downed Reasoner 6-1, 6-2.

"We played very well today," Marshall head coach John Mercer said. "We're looking forward to renewing the rivalry with Miami tomorrow and hopefully we'll continue to play well."

The Herd heads to Oxford, Ohio tomorrow to face off against former Mid-American Conference rival Miami (Ohio) at 2 p.m. The RedHawks are 8-7 on the season.
