HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall Head Coach Jeff Small announced earlier this week that he signed eight student-athletes to join the Thundering Herd track and field squad. The class of 2010 includes state champions, a nationally ranked hurdler, sprinter and thrower, and a USATF junior national champion who has competed internationally. The eight athletes hail from five different states, Michigan, New Jersey, South Carolina, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

"We are really excited to bring this class in. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the assistant coaches we have been able to sign top-notch athletes. Our program is headed in the right direction with the addition of these women," Small said.

Erin Humphrey of Ypsilanti, Mich., brings the most experience to the Herd. Humphrey, who attended Lincoln High School, was the No. 2 nationally ranked senior in the 400 meter for the class of 2006. To close out her high school career, Humphrey became the state champion and record holder in the 400m. Humphrey is a two time, 2005 and 2006, Junior Olympic National Champion in the 4x400m relay. Currently she is a member of the 2006 US Junior National team competing in Beijing, China at the World Junior Championships. Rumburg competed for Pikeview High School and is a four-time state champion in the shot put. Her personal best in the event is 43'2".
