HUNTINGTON - Marshall returns to the Henderson Center floor Wednesday night when it takes on East Carolina at 7 p.m. The game with the Pirates will be "4 for $44" night, with fans receiving four general admission tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks, and a tub of popcorn for $44.

Marshall (7-13, 2-4 C-USA) continues its three game homestand with the Pirates Wednesday. The Herd dropped the opening game of three straight at home, 77-61, to Houston on Saturday. It was the Cougars' game from the outset, as the visitors opened the game on a 7-0 run. Marshall responded with a seven point run of its own to tie the game at seven, but it was as close at the Thundering Herd would get. Houston never trailed again.

Marshall struggled with the Cougars' press all night, and had to do it without the services of its senior point guard, Chris Ross, who played only one minute Saturday night after suffering a sprained left knee against West Virginia on January 24.

Marshall shot 32.8% (19-58) from the floor, 22.7% (5-22) from three, and 66.7% (18-27) from the free throw line for the game. The Herd outrebounded the Cougars, 45-26, for the game. Meanwhile, Houston made 49% (24-49) of its shots from the floor and 45.8% (11-24) from three, and converted on 18-of-22 shots from the charity stripe (81.8%).

Mark Dorris (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Herd with 21 points. Markel Humphrey (Ellenwood, Ga.) added 15 points, and Tre Whitted (Wilmington, N.C.) chipped in ten points. Freshman Tyler Wilkerson (Lexington, Ky.), who made his first start Saturday night, grabbed ten rebounds to lead all players.

Humphrey leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, respectively. Dorris' 21-point performance vs. Houston was his fourth 20+ game of the season, and in his last five contests, he is averaging 16 points per game.

Marshall and East Carolina will meet for the 7th time Wednesday night. The Herd holds a 4-2 advantage in the series. Both teams won on its home floor last season. MU won, 72-66, on Feb. 1 in Huntington, while the Pirates claimed a 63-59 win on Feb. 18 in Greenville. Marshall is 3-0 all-time against ECU in Huntington. The other meetings took place on Jan. 2, 1973 (W, 107-79) and Dec. 29, 1973 (W, 92-81).

East Carolina enters the game with a 5-14 overall record, 0-6 in C-USA play. The Pirates are coming off of a 58-42 loss to UAB at home on January 27. Darrell Jenkins leads ECU with 12.4 points per game, and Courtney Captain also pours in 10.4 points per contest.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and can be heard live on the region on the ISP/Thundering Herd Network and worldwide on www.HerdZone.com. A live stream of the game can also be seen as a part of the Herd All-Access package on www.HerdZone.com.
