Marshall's Women's Tennis Team Concludes Hokie Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Marshall's Yulia Kashelkina (Moscow, Russia) was the lone women's tennis player to finish victorious on the final day at the Hokie Invitational on Sunday at the Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center.

The Herd's Kassie Moore was the only women's tennis player to advance to the finals at the Hokie Invitational when she faced Davidson College's Meredith Skeeters in the Flight D singles bracket. However, Skeeters defeated Moore, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, to take the finals win.

In straight sets, Marshall's Kashelkina defeated Radford's Camilia Noldin on Sunday, 6-3, 6-4, in the Flight B singles 13th place consolation bracket.

Marshall's Jessica Keener (Reston, Va.) was defeated by No. 70 nationally-ranked Vanessa Frankowski of Eastern Michigan, 6-3, 7-5, in the Flight A singles fifth-place consolation bracket today.

The Herd's duo Kashelkina/Keener defeated James Madison's duo Erickson/Jain on Sunday in the Flight A doubles 13th-place consolation bracket, 8-3.
