Herd Continues to Improve in Day Two of Miami Invite

OXFORD, Ohio - The Marshall swimming and diving team continued to set season and lifetime-bests Friday on day two of the Miami University Invitational, including a new Herd record in the 100 breaststroke.
Senior breaststroker Michaela Sceli set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke for the second time this season with a time of 1:04.17 on her way to a second-place finish. Fellow senior Erin Hill also set a season-best in the event, finishing in 1:08.33.
Freshman Jenae Moreno set a pair lifetime-bests in both the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.66 and 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.71.
Ontario, Canada native Kayla Truswell set a new season-best in the 200 butterfly, clocking in at 2:08.84. Sophomore Kristin Wheatley also set a season-best in the 200 fly with a time of 2:12.59
"For the first time all season I think our flyers and IMers were a little off," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "Overall I thought we swam faster tonight which was nice. We got good medley relay performance and our sprinting really came along."
Freshman Haley Holmquist led the Herd in the ultra-competitive diving competition as she finished 16th in the in the three-meter dive with a score of 197.15.
Marshall will finish competition in the Miami Invitational tomorrow.
"I think we got better looking today," Kraus said. "I still think we can swim even faster tomorrow."
