IRVING, Texas - Sophomore Camilla Overup (Koege, Denmark/Koege) was one of six swimming and diving student-athletes selected to the 2006-2007 Conference USA All-Academic team, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Overup, a psychology major with a minor in biological sciences, has earned a cumulative 3.76 grade point average in her first three semesters at Marshall. She has been named to the Dean's List all three semesters and set a season-best time in the 100-yard backstroke this season, in addition to nabbing three second place finishes throughout the year.
"It's always an honor to be picked as one of the conference's elite," Marshall swimming and diving coach Leonard Kraus said. "It shows a high level at which she has performed in the pool and in the classroom.
"There were a lot of people worthy of this award," Kraus said. "It's always special to have an all-conference member on your team."
SMU had two members on the team, while East Carolina, Houston, Marshall and Rice all placed one representative on the inaugural squad. The all-academic team consists of six student-athletes that have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and have competed in 75 percent of their team's scheduled meets.
