Marshall Head Coach Royce Chadwick

On the game: "I thought we had some opportunities in the first five minutes of the game to really establish ourselves. I thought we had some good looks and got some offensive rebounds. We really played as hard as we could have played. We couldn't buy a basket, couldn't get an offensive rebound and couldn't get a put back. I thought we did not play very well for the next ten minutes, because we thought it wasn't our night. I think SMU is a veteran basketball team that just stayed the course all night long. They kept playing and playing and began to build a lead and made things happen. We just didn't execute on offense. We didn't execute defensively. They took away our favorite things."

On the shooting of SMU: "They did well, but we gave them some pretty good looks. Dodds is a very good basketball player and she had her normal night. We talked about what we needed to do to slow her down, but they isolated us one-on-one and we didn't get any help. We were just late getting there and when we did get there we really weren't in position. It wasn't so much the person initially guarding her it was the backside help. They did a good job of executing and getting the right people shots."

On the Marshall guards: "I think without a doubt we are a guard oriented program. This team creates a tempo by the way our guards are playing. It was rough and physical and there were a lot of bumps on both ends as you go to the basket. We do a lot of attacking and when we did attack we were unable to get the free throw line and that was the same thing on both ends. We didn't handle the physical nature of the game very well."

On its upcoming game against West Virginia: "It's a prelude of what's coming. It was a very physically basketball game tonight. I've seen West Virginia play and it's going to be a very physical game Wednesday. We have to rise to the occasion we have to be prepared to play a BCS caliber team. West Virginia is top 25 and an outstanding basketball team and they didn't get there playing finesse basketball. There the best team we'll play and maybe the best team we'll play since we've been here. This game is over and we got to respond and boy what a great test to see if this is going to be in rear view mirror. We stepped into a pot hole and we just got to keep running."

Marshall Guard Meagan Samis

On her personal shooting performance: "It was finally open and we started getting the kicks, but we can't put this on us, we just have to know it's not going to take just one of us, but all five. I think its big coming into Wednesday, but I don't think it's going to hurt us, losing this game. Hopefully we'll know what we have to do even though we know it's going to be harder."
