Marshall Swimming Beats Youngstown State, 144-97

HUNTINGTON - The Marshall swimming and diving team topped Youngstown State, 144-97, Friday in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium to improve its season record to 3-2.
Kristin Wheatley won the 200 IM in a time of 2:15.46 and finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:31.58.
Kayla Truswell finished first in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking in at 2:09.01. Junior Jenny Johnsson claimed the top time in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 2:10.07.
Ally Melinksy took first-place in the 200 breaststroke, finishing four seconds ahead of the nearest competitor with a time of 2:27.54.
Marshall swept the relay events. In the 400-yard medley relay, Kelsie Eberly, Melinsky, Truswell and Kyla Jungclaus clocked a time of 4:04.99. Liz Greenway, Jungclaus, Johnsson and Megan Demeter won the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:57.61.
Siobhan Schuurman took first-place in the three-meter and one-meter diving events with scores of 243.38 and 244.95 respectively. Junior Rachel Hannum came in second in the three-meter and Haley Holmquist finished second in the one-meter.
Marshall will be off next week before hosting Transylvania and Fairmont State on Nov. 8.
