UCF Defeats Marshall Men's Soccer 3-1

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - It only took eight minutes for Marshall to score but it was UCF that scored three unanswered goals to win 3-1 Saturday night at Sam Hood Field.
The Thundering Herd (0-9-1) jumped out to an early lead with a goal from junior Dustin Dawes (Nashville, Tenn.). Dawes now leads the team with three goals on the year.
The goal came when Marshall attacked the net with a header from freshman Jordan Hilgefort (Hebron, Ky.) and Dawes found the rebound for a goal.
The Knights (5-4-0) wouldn't take long to respond as the team scored in the 14th minute. Scoring leader for UCF Kevan George knocked in his fourth goal on the year.
Entering the second half the game was tied at 1-1 before Knights scored twice to take and maintain at 3-1 victory over the Herd.
Both UCF goals came from Kyle McEntte with the first in the 61st minute and the second just eight minutes later.
Junior Robert Smith (Niagara Falls, Ontario) started the game for Marshall finishing with six saves. His counterpart Sean Johnson finished with seven saves.
Men's soccer will now prepare for the team's first Conference USA road game as the team travels to Oklahoma for a game against Tulsa Saturday Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.
