MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Marshall University men's cross country team placed two natives of Morgantown, W.Va. on Conference USA all-conference teams.
Sophomore Eric Frohnapfel and freshman Matt Schiffbauer wrapped-up their 2008 season with conference honors following Saturday's Conference USA Championships.
Frohnapfel received second team honors as he led Marshall this past season with four top ten finishes and finished as the top runner for the Thundering Herd in five out of seven meets. Last season, he was named the C-USA Newcomer of the Year.
His best time came at the Evansville Invitational with a mark of 25:02 which was also a personal best. Among his four top ten finishes, Frohnapfel's highest was at the Furman Invite placing fourth.
As a freshman, Schiffbauer finished behind Frohnapfel in every meet earning three top ten finishes with a best time at the Evansville Invitational (25:21) and place at the Furman Invitational (sixth). Because of those efforts Schiffbauer was named the conference third team.
