OXFORD, Ohio - The Marshall swimming team is off to a fast start at the very competitive Miami Invitational, as junior Jenny Johnsson led the way on day one with a lifetime-best in the women's 1650 freestyle.
"The meet was really fast but we wouldn't have it any other way," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "Jenny came out and swam really well. She's been doing that all year."
Johnsson swam a 17:29.89 to finish 12th overall in the event. Also swimming in the 1650, freshmen Lindsey Stock and Liz Greenway posted times of 17:34.72 and 17:51.05.
"It was really good nice to see some our younger girls stepping up," Kraus said. "This is a real competitive meet and they performed really well."
Marshall's "A" relay squad also set a season-best in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:50.97
