Marshall Head Coach - Royce Chadwick
Opening Statement
"I thought we did a good job of overcoming the fact that we did not have our center tonight. We did it by committee, and my heart goes out to [Tynikki] and her family, we wore the ribbons in honor of what Tynikki Crook's family is going through right now. I thought our team rallied to do the best we could on the boards. I am real proud of the fact we got our guards involved, and they got some rebounds. We didn't play real well in the last four minutes. We didn't finish. But I thought from about the 14-minute mark of the second half, until the four minute mark, that that ten minutes was about as good a defense as we've played. Kizzy Hart took over on offense and made a difference in the game."
On struggles in last four minutes
"I think they made us frantic. They started trapping us in the half court and we had to call a timeout, and then we came back out and turned it over. Then we came back down from the other end and I think we turned it over again. The number one thing was, we just got settled in, and I think your point-guard can do that. Your point-guard can give you a settling factor. Casey Baker was in foul trouble, so Kizzy Hart had to play a lot of point and two-guard. I thought we played well until the last four minutes. We were overly cautious in the last four minutes."
On playing at home
"I thought our crowd made all the difference in the world. I thought our crowd carried us when it wasn't going well. I think they give us a great deal of energy. We haven't had four straight home games all year so we were really looking forward to this stretch today. The good thing about a win, is that it gives you a little bit of confidence and it gives you a shot in the arm. It gives you momentum going into the next game. I am just happy we won't be in Hattiesburg on Sunday, and we won't have to travel. We can sleep in our own bed and do the same things we do in our normal routine."
Marshall Guard - Kizzy Hart
On Overall Performance
"I know my team needed baskets. They kept getting me the ball, I was just trying to get open shots, and I was, they just kept going in."
"I just try to do what I can. If I go in there I work hard to rebound and play good defense and help my team in the best way I can."
Marshall Forward - Kendra King
On overall performance
"There's always an improvement I could have made. I worked hard and that is all that really matters. I felt like I stepped it up on defense against [Emma Cannon]. I boxed her out, sometimes she got over me, but that's okay."
