HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University's women's soccer squad will travel to Charleston, W.Va. to face the University of Charleston, Saturday in its only exhibition match of the 2008 season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Triana Field.

"We are looking forward to playing the Golden Eagle's Saturday night," Marshall's interim head coach Kevin Long said. "The team is playing well and I am very pleased with what we have been able to accomplish so far in preseason."

The Thundering Herd finished last season 4-13-1 and will return seven starters and only a select amount of seniors to grow from last year's squad. With the returning starters, the group will include five juniors and six sophomores.

Marshall will also welcome 10 newcomers to the roster, including eight freshmen and two transfers.

"At this point, we are looking to see if we can establish a flow to our play; perhaps identify a style of play we can expect to see throughout the season," interim head coach Long added.

The Herd opens regular season action with a two-match road beginning Saturday, Aug. 23, against St. Bonaventure University at 3:00 p.m. in St. Bonaventure, N.Y. Then Marshall travels to Emmitsburg, Md. to face Mount St. Mary's University, Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1:00 p.m.
