Women’s Soccer Drops First SBC Contest at Old Dominion
10/8/2026 9:11:00 PM | Women's Soccer
NORFOLK, Va. - Marshall Women's Soccer (6-3-4, 2-1-2 SBC) suffered its first defeat of the conference season, falling 3-0 to Old Dominion (5-5-2, 3-0-2 SBC) Thursday evening.
A balanced opening half saw the Monarchs strike twice in the opening 45's final six minutes. A pair of long-range strikes from ODU's Ashley Economopoulos beat a debuting MU goalkeeper, Romina Olmedo. The Herd's freshman keeper was called up to the Uruguay U-20 National Team last month. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie McCutcheon played the second half in net, making a pair of saves.
The Herd finished with four shots, two on target in the match. The two goals were difficult to overcome against the hosts, as the Monarchs have yet to concede a goal in league play this season.
Marshall will have a quick opportunity to respond, coming home to face ULM on Sunday, October 11 at 3 p.m. The Herd will celebrate Senior Day prior to the match. Tickets can be found HERE.
