DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Marshall University men's soccer team dropped game two of the Davidson Invitational to the host school 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Thundering Herd (0-2) had six shots on goal that included three from juniors Nick Daniele (Columbus, Ohio) and two from JD Hill (Dublin, Ohio).
"Obviously this was a disappointing weekend for us," Marshall head coach Bob Gray said. "We can't expect to win unless we can put the ball in the back of the net."
Senior goalkeeper Greg Walter (Slippery Rock, Pa.) tied a career best in saves with seven in the contest and allowing both Wildcat goals.
The Wildcats (1-1) scored their first goal 12 minutes into the contest with a header by Robert O'Donnell while the second came at the 61-minute mark on a breakaway from Machel Turner.
Up next for Marshall will be the team's regular season home opener when they take on the Liberty Flames. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday Sept. 6 at Sam Hood Field and admission is free.
