Seven-foot junior center Jerome Jordan scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the University of Tulsa to a 69-50 victory over Marshall University in Conference USA men's basketball action Saturday.

Jordan proved to be too much for the Thundering Herd on the inside. The Golden Hurricane standout connected on 7-of-12 shots from the floor and was 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the contest to go along with three blocks.

"He is without question the best big guy in this league," MU Head Coach Donnie Jones said. "We tried to do some different things on him tonight, but he did a great job and made plays."

Tulsa (12-6 overall, 2-1 C-USA) shot 47.7% from the floor and limited Marshall (8-9 overall, 1-2 C-USA) to just 30% shooting (15-of-50) for the game. The Thundering Herd was especially ineffective from three-point range, managing to make just two of 19 long range shots (10.5%).

"Tulsa is a well coached team and one of the best defensive teams in the league. It is very difficult to win on the road when you shoot the way we did tonight," Jones said. "This is a lesson for our team and we are going to go back and work harder and get better."

Marshall was led by freshman point guard Damier Pitts who scored a team-high 19 points. Freshman Dago Pena earned his first start and grabbed a team-high five rebounds to go along with five points.

The Golden Hurricane dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Herd 41 to 23. Marshall did force 18 TU turnovers, while only committing eight.

The Thundering Herd got off to a slow start and trailed at the half, 37-21.

Marshall sophomore Marcus Goode saw his first game action since having knee surgery on Jan. 5th. Goode played seven minutes and contributed two points and three blocks.

The Thundering Herd will attempt to get back on track when it hosts SMU on Wednesday at the Cam Henderson Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
