HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Following a resounding 92-65 victory to open the 2026-27 season Monday evening over Buffalo, Head Coach Cornelius 'Corny' Jackson's Marshall Men's Basketball team faces a familiar MAC foe with Toledo.
The Herd and Rockets will tip at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Cam Henderson Center in what will be the 11th consecutive season the two sides have met.

BROADCASTING NOTE
- With Marshall Football's 3:30 p.m. contest at Georgia Southern on Saturday, the Herd MBB contest will be aired exclusively on ESPN 94.1 FM and AM 930 on the radio. ESPN+ will stream both contests.
COACH CORNELIUS 'CORNY' JACKSON
- Head Coach Corny Jackson enters year three leading the Herd. Jackson, who played for Marshall from 1998-2001, was named Head Coach on March 25, 2024 after seven seasons on the coaching staff dating back to the 2017-18 season.
- The 2x Ben Jobe Award finalist, Coach Jackson's Herd possessed a 27-7 home record following his first two seasons at the helm.
- With 20 and 19 wins in the first two seasons for the Herd under Jackson's leadership, MU vaulted up to a 2nd place finish in the Sun Belt Conference in 2025-26.

MAC-SBC CHALLENGE NOTES
- Including Marshall, the Sun Belt Conference went 5-7 in the first leg of the 2026-27 MAC-SBC Challenge. The Herd and other SBC schools will make the return trip to MAC campuses on Saturday, Feb. 6. Those games will be announced at a later date.
- The Herd is 2-1 all-time in official MAC-SBC Challenge contests.
MARSHALL NOTES
- Marshall never trailed in its season-opening 92-65 victory over Buffalo, jumping out to a 21-point halftime advantage. The Herd is 26-4 all-time under Coach Jackson when leading at the break.
- As a team which enters 2026-27 with 11 newcomers to its roster, three newcomers started in their debut with the Herd. Emmanuel Manyuon (Pacific) led MU in scoring and rebounds with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Colt Langdon (NC State) scored three on an and-one opportunity while Khaman Maker (DePaul) set a new career-best with seven rebounds.
- Speaking of new career-bests, Bryce Slay made a statement to open his second season with the Herd. In his first start with Marshall, Slay scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting in the opener.

ABOUT TOLEDO
- Toledo dropped a one-point heartbreaker at Arkansas State in the MAC-SBC Challenge Monday evening. The Rockets face No. 6 Michigan State Thursday evening before traveling to Huntington.
- Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk is in his 17th season with Toledo, ranking 5th in the MAC all-time coaches' wins list with his 315 victories entering the 2026-27 season.
- The Rockets have been picked second in the always-challenging MAC, behind only Miami (Ohio) as the league favorites. Sean Jones and Austin Parks were named to the Preseason All-MAC Second Team.
SERIES HISTORY
- The two sides have met every season dating back to the 2016-17 campaign. Of the six games in Huntington during that span, three have gone to overtime. Marshall won last season's meeting in Toledo with a 85-72 victory at Savage Arena in a series the Rockets lead all-time, 40-25.
