HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP)--Courtney Beasley scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half and Southern Miss rallied for an 84-79 win over Marshall on Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles (13-6, 3-2 Conference USA), who overcame a 10-point second-half deficit, have won four of their last five while the Thundering Herd have lost four of five.
Marshall (9-11, 2-4) led 47-41 at halftime and 51-41 with 19:24 left. The Thundering Herd was scoreless from 18:51 to 12:47 to trail 59-53.
With Southern Miss up by nine, Marshall made three baskets, including two 3-pointers, to make it 71-68 with 4:32 left, but could get no closer.
The teams combined for 49 fouls. Southern Miss made 26 of 36 free throws and Marshall went 17-for-23.
Craig Craft added 16 points for the Golden Eagles. Andre Stephens had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Damier Pitts led Marshall with 18 points.
