HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall University's Erika Duncan (Easthaven, Scotland) tallies her team-leading fifth goal of the year but UCF's three first half goals is too much for the Herd, as the Knights go on to win 4-1 in Friday night's Conference USA women's soccer match at Sam Hood Field.

Marshall falls to 9-2 on the season and drops to 2-1 in C-USA. No. 21 UCF improves to 7-3-1 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.

The Knight's Alex Brandt (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) started the scoring, with her first goal of the season, in just the 10th minute of play as she ripped a shot just outside the 18 yard box, off a pass from teammate Tishia Jewell (Satellite Beach, Fla).

MU answered back just 2:39 later as Duncan scored, for the second consecutive match, off a centering pass from Molly Snead (Cincinnati, Ohio).

UCF would finish the first half with two quick goals to give them a 3-1 lead entering half time and never looked back. Sophomore Katie Jackson (Satellite Beach, Fla.) scored her third goal of the season from inside the six yard box off a long centering pass from Yvonne George (Winter Springs, Fla.).

Just 1:36 later Jackson's throw in found Kim Newsome (Apopka, Fla.) who sent a one touch pass for Bianca Joswiak (Berlin, Germany) to blast past Herd goalkeeper Liz Orton (Ft. Collins, Colo.).

Orton finished the night with five saves.

Amanda Martorana (Middleburg, Fla.) rebounded in the Knight's final goal of the night.

UCF outshot MU 19-5, and with the win now lead the all-time series 5-0.

Marshall looks to bounce back from its first home loss of the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts C-USA opponent Southern Miss.
