Herd Women Set For Pair Of Weekend Games

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Following a ten-day layoff, the Marshall University women's basketball team will hit the floor once again with a pair of games this weekend, beginning with a trip to Morehead State on Friday before a home tilt against UT-Martin on Sunday afternoon.
The Herd wraps up a six-game road trip on Friday as it travels to Morehead State. The Eagles enter Fridays matchup with a mark of 8-3 and are winners of their last five games. Last time out, MSU took a 78-44 win over Kentucky Christian.
Chynna Bozeman leads the Eagles and the Ohio Valley Conference, averaging 18.1 points per game. Bozeman is also a solid free throw shooter, hitting 81.8% of her attempts. As a team, the Eagles have hit 10.4 three-pointers per game, a total that is second in the nation.
On Sunday, the Herd will return home to face UT-Martin. It will mark the first home game for MU since it faced Kent State on November 21. The Skyhawks come into the game with a record of 1-6 and have not played since a December 9 loss at Indiana. Alecia Wetherly is the leading scorer for UT-Martin, tallying 11.9 PPG.
Marshall has been on a roll since beginning the season 1-3, winning three of its last four contests. Tynikki Crook continues to lead the Herd, averaging 14.9 PPG. Since scoring nine points in the season opener against Appalachian State, the junior has scored 13 or more in every games.
Another junior, Mystee Dale, has also been solid as of late. After going 0-9 from the floor in her first two games with Marshall, the junior has shot 50.0% (24-48) over her last five games. She has also racked up the points, increasing her career high in six-straight contests, culminating in a 15-point effort last time out at George Washington.
Redshirt senior Kendra King has been settling back into her role after missing last season due to injury. King tied a career-best with 14 points against George Washington. She also grabbed six boards. At Cleveland State, the Fairfax, Va. native dished out a five assists, tying her career high.
Friday's game at Morehead State is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Ellis T. Johnson Arena while Sunday's contest against UT-Martin will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m., following the men's basketball game against High Point at the Henderson Center. Sunday's game will be sponsored by Fifth Third Bank and will be the first of two games in the Fifth Third Challenge. The first 150 fans will receive a free t-shirt while a lucky fan will have a chance to win up to $1,000 in a savings account.
