HUNTINGTON -- Marshall's swimming and diving team sits in fifth-place after day two of the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships.
"We had some great swims today," said Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus. "Almost all of our times this morning were lifetime bests. We just need to get more girls into the afternoon session."
Jenny Johnsson paced the Thundering Herd with lifetime-best time of 5:00.60 and team-best swimming finish, coming in 14th in the women's 500-yard freestyle.
Marshall's only other swim of the finals competition came in the women's 400-yard medley relay, but the Herd was disqualified for leaving early on an exchange.
In the prelims, Marshall set numerous lifetime bests. Among the Herd's leaders in the morning session were Samantha Noland, Kayla Truswell and Kelsie Eberly. The threesome finished 18th, 19th and 20th respectively in the 200-yard IM with times of 2:11.29, 2:11.50 and 2:12.15.
Kyla Jungclaus finished 21st in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.42. Briana Burns clocked in in 24.68 and Lauren Fairbanks finished in 24.68.
On the boards, senior Siobhan Schuurman led the way with a 213.65 in the three-meter dive. Schuurman finished 12th-place overall followed by teammates Haley Holmquist and Rachel Hannum at No. 15 and 16 respectively.
