Inclement Weather Cancels Tennessee Classic

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee officials decided that the remainder of the Tennessee Classic would be canceled Sunday.

The school attempted to reschedule games throughout the weekend but the weather would not cooperate. The tournament only saw action Friday which was delayed throughout the day to fit in five games. No games were played Saturday or Sunday.

Since they did not compete Friday, the Marshall softball team was unable to play any games into this weekend's schedule and still sit at 7-6 overall.

Up next for Marshall will be its own home tournament starting Friday March 6. This season's tournament in Huntington marks the first time in five years that the team has been able to host a home tournament.

The tournament is just the start of a 12-game home stand by the Thundering Herd. The team will host UTEP in its opening Conference USA weekend March 14-15.
