Marshall Slated for Doubleheader against Miami (OH)

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University softball team returns home to host former Mid-American Conference rival Miami (OH) Tuesday April 14 start at 2 p.m. EST at Dot Hicks Field.
The Thundering Herd (22-12, 8-4) come back to Huntington after taking game three of the series against UCF while the RedHawks (21-16) enter town coming off a pair of wins over Bowling Green.
Marshall and Miami have met 27 times coming into this season with the most recent two years ago in Oxford as the RedHawks walked away with a 3-1 win over the Herd. In the overall series, the Herd leads by five games at 16-11.
In the last nine contests dating back to 2004, the series has alternated back and forth with no one starting a winning streak. The longest winning streak of the series belongs to Marshall as the team won seven in a row from May 2000 to April of 2002.
The Herd owns the series in Huntington and Oxford with eight wins in each city while Miami is undefeated at neutral sites, 3-0.
The team is led offensively by Jordan McElroy and Sarah Billstrom. McElroy leads the team in hits (39) Billstorm sits atop in x categories including average (.343), home runs (4) and RBIs (22).
In the circle, the Redhawks work with two main pitchers. The ace being Jessica Simpson who boasts a 1.91 ERA with 15 wins. Behind her is Meredith Linch with six victories and a 2.96 ERA. Simpson leads all pitchers with 129 strikeouts.
