Women's Track Wraps-Up Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. - After a break out performance last weekend by the throwers, the group of Marshall sprinters made some ground at the Duke Invitational this past weekend.
Freshman Rachel Coaxum (Catlett, Va.) and sophomores Alexis Duvaul (Steubenville, Ohio) and Kristin Smith (Baltimore, Md.) all qualified for the final run in the 100-meter hurdles event finishing third, seventh and eighth respectively.
In the finals, Coaxum was able to finish second in the event with a time of 14.52 seconds. Duvaul and Smith on the other hand did not finish the race. Smith also finished fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m.
In the throwing events, junior Molly Grove (Bunker Hill, W.Va.) finished eighth in the hammer throw (47.41m) while senior Kwema Phillander (Siparia, Trinidad) placed fifth in the javelin (38.71m).
Up next for the Thundering Herd will be a trip to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee. The meet will run from Thursday April 9 to Saturday April 11.
