Women's Golf Improves On Final Day Of IU Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Rachel Halloran shot a team-low 76 on Tuesday as the Thundering Herd women's golf team improved to finish in 13th place at the IU Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.

Halloran, who shot an 86 and 87 in Monday's rounds, shot a 76 in Tuesday's final round, seven strokes better than any round shot by a Marshall golfer in the event. Halloran's final round propelled her to a tie for 50th place in the tournament.

Two strokes behind Halloran was Larie Lynch, who shot a 249 over the three rounds. After shooting 84's in Monday's opening rounds, Lynch wrapped up the event with an 83 on Tuesday. She tied for 56th place.

Molly Ginger took 73rd with a 263, a spot ahead of Mary Oliver, who finished Tuesday's action with a 265. Maria Battaglia completed the tournament four shots behind Oliver with a 269.

UNLV dominated the event, winning by 13 strokes. UNLV shot a 931 while Iowa State posted a 944 to take second place. Texas was third, shooting a 948. On the individual side, Natasha Krishna won the event with a 225. She finished four shots ahead of a second place tie.

Marshall will wrap up the spring season at the C-USA Championship, which will take place from Sunday, April 12 through Tuesday, April 14. The University of Tulsa is hosting the championship.
