Three different golfers lead rounds for Herd at Forest Oaks
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Marshall Women's Golf concluded its Fall 2026 schedule at the UNCG Collegiate this week at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
The Herd had three different golfers – Taylor Sargent, Madison Borders and Savannah Hawkins – each lead them in a round during the 54-hole event.
In the first round, Taylor Sargent had a pair of birdies to shoot a 4-over 76 to lead the Herd out of the gate.
Sargent's birdies came on Hole Nos. 13 and 15, and she later had eight pars over her final nine holes in a consistent round to lead the team.
The second round saw Madison Borders find her range to shoot a 1-over 73 that led the team.
Borders started her round with a birdie on the par-5, 6th hole and later added birdies on No. 13 and No. 1 to finish just one stroke over par.
The Herd's best round of the week belonged to Savannah Hawkins, who had four birdies in her round to finish at Even-par 72 in Tuesday's final round.
Hawkins went through a 10-hole stretch in which she had two birdies and eight pars, then rallied back from consecutive bogeys with consecutive birdies at Nos. 10 and 11 before closing out her round with a bogey on the 12th.
It was the second-straight round that Hawkins birdied Nos. 3 and 11 as she finished the tournament tied with Anna Brown with a team-best eight birdies.
Brown's final round featured one of the best nines for the Herd this Fall as she started her round on No. 14 and had three birdies in her first five holes. As she came around to the back nine for her final stretch in the round, she added a birdie on No. 11 to finish with a 4-under 32 on the back en route to a final-round 73 (+1).
Marshall Women's Golf has completed its Fall season and now turns its attention to the Spring 2027 championship season, which begins Feb. 15 at the Rivertowne Invitational.
