Marshall Softball Picks up Two More Postseason Honors

EL PASO, Texas - Juniors Katie Murphree (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Caitlyn Jackson (Ontario, Calif.) each picked up additional postseason awards following the Conference USA Championship.
Murphree, who was already honored as the C-USA Co-Newcomer of the Year, picked up a spot on the All-Academic Team. She boasts a 3.74 GPA while majoring in Biology.
"We are so proud of what Katie has accomplished on and off the field in her first season with us" head coach Shonda Stanton said. "We are extremely excited to have her lead this team next season."
In her first year, Murphree led the Thundering Herd pitching staff with a 14-8 record and a 2.33 ERA with 105 strikeouts. She had 14 complete games and two one-hitters to add to her resume.
Jackson rounded out C-USA honors as being named to the All-Tournament team from this past week in El Paso. In the game against Tulsa, she went 2-for-4 with an RBI and was named to the team's utility position.
"This is another great accomplishment for Caitlyn, and she has one final season to make a difference is this program," Stanton added.
During her junior campaign, Jackson batted .325 with 27 RBIs. She ranks in the top five all-time in Marshall career batting average after just three seasons.
