Orton Named Conference USA's Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Marshall University women's soccer goalkeeper Liz Orton (Ft. Collins, Colo.) earns Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors.

While playing in the Duquesne tournament last weekend, Orton recorded five saves in the overtime win over the tournament host, and had a season high seven saves against Manhattan College.

Orton earned two more shutouts this weekend, her third of the year and the 11th of her career, making her Marshall's all-time career leader in shutouts.

The Herd recorded victories over the Dukes 1-0 (OT) and the Jaspers 2-0 to win the Duquesne University Tournament. Marshall improved to 3-0 on the season, their best start since 2000.

This is Orton's second Defensive Play of the Week honor. Her last came on September 4th of her sophomore season when she registered four saves and recorded a shutout against Delaware State, the first in program history.
