Women Finish First, Men Finish Second at Greensboro Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Marshall University women's cross country team captured first place and then men's team finished second on Saturday afternoon at Hagan Stone Park and the Greensboro Invitational.
Kathleen Clark paced the Herd and was the first to cross the line in the women's 5K race, finishing sixth overall in a time of 19:34. She was followed by Leslie Thomas and Allison Cox who finished 17th and 18th respectively.
On the men's side, Matt Schiffbauer was .02 seconds away from taking first place overall but was out-sprinted to the line by Andrew Chebii-Singh of Winston-Salem State University in the 8K race. The sophomore's second place finish was his best of the season, and he has not finished lower than seventh in any meet.
Marshall takes next weekend off and then races on Oct. 10th at the Furman Invitational in Greensville, S.C.
