The Herd Falls to Lipscomb at Belmont Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Marshall University men's soccer team fell to Lipscomb in the championship game of the Belmont Invitational on Sunday afternoon by the score of 1-0 as the Bison capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity.
The goal came at the 34:04 mark as Marshall's net minder Greg Walter saved a penalty kick, but the rebound fell right to Lipscomb's Alexander Faulk for the tap in.
The Herd was outshot 10-7 but held the advantage in corner kicks 8-4. Coach Gray tapped into his bench today as he used eight subs, while six of them played more than 50 minutes.
Senior Dustin Dawes, and Juniors Sammy Boateng and Kendall Sutton represented Marshall on the all tournament team.
Up next for Marshall (1-2) is the UNC Greensboro Kickoff Classic. The Herd will face UNC Greensboro in the first match on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and will finish the tournament on Sunday with Elon. Kickoff will start at noon.
