Telles Picks Up Softball All-Conference Nod

IRVING, Texas- Marshall University softball player Alianna Telles was named to the Conference USA Preseason All-Conference Team as announced by league officials Wednesday afternoon.
Telles, a sophomore shortstop for the Herd, earned the nod after finishing the 2009 season tops on the squad with 38 runs scored, tied for the team-lead in homeruns with seven, and ranked 14th nationally in sacrifice flies with four.
"I am pleased for Alianna," said head coach Shonda Stanton. "She had a solid season for us as a freshman. We will look for her to have a breakout season and lead us in the top of the lineup."
The accolade marks the second award to be added to Telles' trophy case. During her freshman season Telles was also named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
"This is a strong field of players this year on the All-Conference team," said Stanton. "We are excited to start back up again and I believe conference play will be very intense this year."
Marshall softball will begin its season on the road at the Stetson Lead-Off Classic in DeLand, Fla., on February 12.
