Men's Cross Country Wins Louisville Classic; Schiffbauer Places Second

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Marshall University men's cross country captured the Blue Division title at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday morning at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
Junior Matt Schiffbauer led the men as he placed second overall with a time of 24:25.60 in the 8K course. Teammate David Caldwell was fifth, crossing the line in 25:13.50. The duo led Marshall to the team victory as their point total of 131 was four points lower than Bentley University who finished second. 328 student-athletes competed in the race.
Heather Saffel led the Thundering Herd women's team for the second straight week with a 30th place finish in the 5K race. Saffel crossed the line in a time of 19.04.19. The Herd women finished 17th as a team.
The men's "B" team placed second overall in the silver division and we led by sophomore Adam Frohnapfel who placed 12th with a time of 26:41.10.
Marshall has one more race, two weeks from today at the Evansville Invitational, before the Conference USA Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa on Nov. 1.
