HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's golf head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey announced the signing of Korakot Simsiriwong to a National Letter of Intent for the 2011-12 season.

"Korakot will be an amazing addition to our team and we are very fortunate to have her join us," Knight Rowsey said. "She is not only a tremendous talent capable of competing on the highest level of golf, but an excellent student as well."

While attending Starkville Academy, Simsiriwong placed first in the Mississippi Private School Girls' Golf Overall Tournament with a score of 70 and finished second in the Mississippi Woman Golf Association Girls Junior Amateur. The past spring Simsiriwong was named MAIS Female Golfer of the Year.

The Thailand native, is a three-time qualifier of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship. In 2006, when she was just 13 years old she qualified locally and at the district level and went on to finish 13th. She earned her second berth in 2008, placing 15th in the 14-15 year old division. She returned for a third time over the summer and shot a 69 on the final day to earn a 7th place finish, just eight strokes behind the leader.

"The addition of Korakot will bring Marshall women's golf to a new level beginning Fall of 2011," Knight Rowsey concluded.
