HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Damier Pitts scored in double figures for the third time in as many games as the Thundering Herd men's basketball team took a dominating 85-60 win over Binghamton on Tuesday at the Cam Henderson Center.

Pitts was 5-13 from the floor and hit all six free throw attempts on his way to a season-high. DeAndre Kane was close behind with 16 points and eight rebounds, tying his career high.

"Overall, it was a pleasing win for the most part," head coach Tom Herrion said. "Coming off the break I thought our focus and energy was great. We started on Christmas night at 9 p.m. and it carried over the past couple of days."

"We would have given ourselves a chance to beat anyone on our schedule the way we came out and played tonight."

The Herd (9-3) scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back. Kane scored five points in that span. The lead reached double figures for the first time when Johnny Thomas, making his first start at Marshall, hit a lay-up with 12:35 left in the opening period.

Binghamton (3-8) would find itself down by as many as 28 points in the first half before going to the break down 45-22. The Bearcats would show some fight in the second half, closing the gap to 15 points midway through the period (60-45), but the Herd would stretch the lead out to 29 points as it went on a 16-1 run, before taking the 25-point victory.

A trio of Herd players notched 12 points, led by junior Aundra Williams. Williams' career night was highlighted by a 6-of-7 night from the floor along with four rebounds and a block. Thomas and Tirrell Baines also recorded 12 points.

Marshall shot 49.2% on the day while holding Binghamton to 39.7%. The Herd also had another solid night from the free throw line, hitting 18-22 attempts (81.8%) after hitting 82.1% last week at James Madison.

Mahamoud Jabbi led all players with 22 points, hitting 9-14 shots. He also grabbed eight boards while blocking four shots.

The Herd will be on the road for its next two contests, beginning Sunday when MU will travel to face St. Bonaventure. The Herd and Bonnies will tip at 4 p.m. before opening up Conference USA play on Wednesday at UCF at 7 p.m.
