DeAndre Kane Named C-USA Freshman Of The Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University redshirt freshman DeAndre Kane has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league announced today.

Kane had a stellar week for the Thundering Herd, helping to lead it to wins over FIU and Ohio. In Monday's 88-79 win over the Panthers, Kane recorded his second-consecutive 25-point outing, having done the same two days earlier at Louisville. He hit 8-of-14 shots and connected on eight free throws. Kane added five boards and four assists

The Pittsburgh, Pa. native kept his streak going in Saturday's win at Ohio, leading Marshall with 18 points. He shot 5-for-9 from the floor and recorded four assists and four rebounds.

For the week, Kane averaged 21.5 PPG, 4.0 assists and 33.5 minutes, all team highs. The honor marks the first for Kane and the first for the team this season.

Kane and the Thundering Herd are back in action on Tuesday, playing host to James Madison at 7 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center.
