HUNTINGTON, W.Va .- Marshall University's women's soccer head coach Kevin Long announced the Herd's 2010 spring schedule, with all nine matches coming on the road. The month-long schedule consists of opponents from eight different conferences, including back-to-back matches against Atlantic Coast Conference members Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

The Thundering Herd is coming off its best season in program history going 12-7 and falling just one game shy of its first ever Conference USA tournament appearance. MU opens its spring season as it travels to take on Morehead State on March 31. The Herd enjoyed a 1-0 victory against Morehead State last spring season.

Marshall begins April with four matches in a five day span as the Thundering Herd takes on Xavier and Cincinnati on Wednesday, April 7th, followed by a trip to James Madison on Sunday, April 11th, where MU does battle with St. Francis and James Madison. The Herd looks to avenge its only loss of the 2009 spring season when it competes against Cincinnati. Marshall earned 3-3 and 1-1 ties against St. Francis and James Madison last spring.

The Herd travels to Virginia Tech to play the Hokies and Wake Forest of the ACC. The matches are set for Saturday, April 18th. Marshall mounted a 1-0 victory against Virginia Tech in the spring of 2008.

The spring schedule concludes with a trip to Ohio University to take on Ohio University and Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, April 24. The Herd earned its first-ever regular season win against Ohio University defeating the Bobcats 1-0 on September 13, 2009. MU also enjoyed a 3-0 victory against Ohio last spring.

"Our spring season is full of formidable opponents that will all be ready to play," Long said. "We are eager to take the field and are excited to get our younger players some experience."
