Softball Hosts UAB in Friday/Saturday Series

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall University softball (14-10, 0-3) returns to Dot Hicks Field to host Conference USA foe UAB (15-7, 1-2) on Friday at 2 p.m., and a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Thundering Herd is led at the dish by Rebecca Gamby, who has a team-best .365 batting average and an on-base percentage of .474.
In the circle, Katie Murphree (8-6) continues to lead the MU pitching staff with a 2.64 ERA in 90.0 innings of work.
Marshall will face a UAB squad that is hitting at a .290 clip, and C-USA's fourth-ranked hitter in Martina Landrum. Landrum leads the Blazers with a .438 batting average and a .699 slugging percentage.
Marshall University's marketing department will be holding a Team Friends Challenge - friends of softball team members are invited to attend this weekend's festivities and one guest of the team member with the most fans in attendance on Saturday will receive a gift card to Buddy's All America Bar-B-Que. Player guests may sign in at the promotions table.
The Herd will also be hosting camper reunion day - each former camper will receive a Marshall softball mini-poster and can get it autographed by the team after Saturday's doubleheader.
