HUNTINGTON, W.Va .- The Marshall University women's soccer team opens its spring season when it travels to Morehead State on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. to take on the Eagles.

Wednesday opens the first of nine away matches that compile the Thundering Herd's spring schedule.

Marshall has earned two consecutive victories against Morehead State, including a 1-0 victory last spring and a 2-1 overtime victory in an exhibition match this past August.

MU enters the spring season with excitement after falling only one game shy of its first-ever Conference USA tournament appearance just five months ago. The Herd concluded the fall with a 12-7 record, its highest win total in program history, and improved tremendously on its 5-10-4 record in 2008. Marshall will hope to continue to make improvements during its spring season as it takes on opponents such as; Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Xavier, James Madison, St. Francis, Ohio University and Ohio Wesleyan.

"We've been training since the end of January and we are excited to finally compete against someone else," head coach Kevin Long said. "We are eager to see different faces and it is a good opportunity for our younger players to get some experience."
